African Safari

The idea for this piece came about while I was in Zambia. The people I met there were so vibrant and full of life, I wanted to try to capture that energy. I loved the brightly colored fabrics that the women wore, which is were the designs in the sky come from. The whole idea came together after going on safari in Botswana and seeing the beautiful landscape with wildlife.

Jazzy

inspired by a photograph I saw in the newspaper of a man who was set free after spending years in prison for a crime he didn't commit. I was drawn to the joy the man portrayed. He was just sitting at a table but I saw him as a jazzy piano player entranced in the music.

MOVE

These three are kind of a continuation of an earlier piece I created. They more fully embody the postures of moving upward, inward, and outward.

Merry Christmas, Tini!

My first landscape/reflective seascape!

Merry Christmas, Bubble!

Another bird flying towards the light. I love the visual of light breaking in.
Inspired by Mutemath lyrics and another painting done by my little sister.

Utterly Convinced

I did this painting when a friend asked me to create a piece based around some lyrics. I wanted the lyrics to take precedence, so the figure is most visible only when the paint around it is shining in direct light.

Thanks to You I'm Like a Bird Broken Free

This piece was actually inspired by three songs. One gave the visual of the bird breaking free, another lent the lyrics in the cage and the lyrics outside the cage came from another song.
LOVE music and it's power to inspire and evoke emotion, thought, and creativity!
